TOOLS and STUDY AIDS

Flashcards, word maps, graphic organizers, and every other applicable study strategy I can find. You should be here before every test you ever take in Japanese class.
Found this by accident, but it's fantastic. You can set up a flashcard tool to quiz you for vocabulary tests. They also send a daily email with some random sentence and grammar. It's a great way to get tiny doses of practice and discover new words.

Useful for all subjects. You can share your sets, too, or look up sets made by other students. Really an all-around 便利な site.

Quizlet is the Swiss army knife of user-input online study tools. Flashcard makers, timed practice, a listen-and-type function, and you can even compete against other students (or your friends and classmates). We'll use this in class if I ever get a chance to put everybody on a screen in the lab...

Series
There are whole systems of "learn Japanese" lessons to be found online for free. I'm putting the best of them here: give them a try sometime. They can be good review for things you've already learned or a way to advance yourself beyond the limits of the textbook.
Brought to you by the number one television channel in Japan, 日本放送協会 (Nippon Housou Kyoukai, or NHK as it's best known) an excellent resource for self-study of Japanese language for the beginner. Available in 16 languages beyond English; pass it along to your international friends.
