Japan's famous organized crime syndicate, the Yakuza is featured in the Western media alternately as petty thieves, scheming buffoons, slick gamblers, honorable criminals fighting an unjust corporate bureaucracy, ruthless thugs that fight with katana, and the Italian Mafia in New York, only Japanese and scripted in Tokyo.
